Last Updated: January 15, 2025

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives individuals in the European Economic Area (EEA) strong rights over their personal data. Even though SweetStart Cleaning is based in Canada, we respect and uphold these rights for all visitors.

This page explains your GDPR rights in detail and how to exercise them.

Your Rights Under GDPR

1. Right of Access (Article 15)

You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you. This includes:

  • What data we have collected
  • Why we are processing it
  • Who we have shared it with
  • How long we plan to keep it
  • Where the data came from (if not directly from you)

We will provide this information free of charge within 30 days of your request.

2. Right to Correction (Article 16)

If any personal data we hold about you is wrong or incomplete, you have the right to ask us to correct it. We will update your records promptly.

You can request corrections by emailing support@sweetstart-ca.com with the specific data you want changed.

3. Right to Deletion (Article 17)

Also known as the "right to be forgotten." You can ask us to delete your personal data when:

  • The data is no longer needed for its original purpose
  • You withdraw your consent and no other legal basis applies
  • You object to processing and there are no overriding grounds
  • The data was processed unlawfully
  • Deletion is required by law

We may need to keep some data for legal or contractual reasons. If so, we will explain why.

4. Right to Restrict Processing (Article 18)

You can ask us to limit how we use your data in certain cases:

  • You dispute the accuracy of the data (while we verify it)
  • The processing is unlawful but you prefer restriction over deletion
  • We no longer need the data but you need it for legal claims
  • You have objected to processing (while we evaluate your objection)

When processing is restricted, we will only store the data and not use it further without your consent.

5. Right to Data Portability (Article 20)

You have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format (such as CSV or JSON). You can also ask us to transfer this data directly to another service provider where technically possible.

This right applies to data you provided to us and that we process based on consent or a contract.

6. Right to Object (Article 21)

You can object to the processing of your personal data when:

  • We process it based on legitimate interests
  • We use it for direct marketing (including profiling)
  • We process it for research or statistical purposes

If you object to direct marketing, we will stop processing your data for that purpose immediately.
